On Friday, I was lucky enough to go witness history in the making and join the millions of people watching the Royal Wedding across the world.
We actually started the day very late, and went in with very little expectations of getting to witness anything at all. We had been witnessing the madness of the wedding all week in London and we figured that the day would be jam packed with people and we weren't going to see anything at all. But, regardless we set off and decided to not join the crowds in the parks but instead try and go to see the procession. By the time we arrived, the ceremony was already over and the procession had began. We found a spot right next to Buckingham Palace, which was the final stop of the procession. When we first got there we were actually unaware of how far back we actually were, all we could see was a massive amount of people. We somehow managed to squeeze our way closer and closer. We spent quite a while waiting, but we were very well entertained by everyone there. We met some hilarious characters and had some good laughs. At times it did get a little chaotic and frustrating, there were so many people and everyone was just piled on top of one another.
After some waiting we began hearing massive amounts of cheering and figured something was going on. The guests began arriving to the reception at Buckingham Palace in buses.
After the procession ended, the gates to the front of Buckingham Palace were opened and the crowds were allowed to go in to see the Royal family come out to the balcony. That's when the real chaos started. It was a massive stampede with everyone wanting to get a good view of the new couple. Luckily, we survived the stampede and actually got a pretty good spot in front of the palace.
Not long after, the couple came out to the balcony along with the rest of the Royal family.
Some of the awesome characters we saw that day!
We snapped a some pictures afterwards, most of the people went off to the parks to continue celebrating.
After some of the crowds had died down, we went over to Westminster Abbey, where the ceremony had taken place earlier.
Some instagrams of the day:
It was a wonderful experience, even though being in the huge crowds did get frustrating at times. It was still very cool to be able to take part in the big day and something that will definitely go down in the books for me.
