The British are Coming

Finally, something blog worthy happening in my life.

This crazy Brit boy will be touching down in good ol' America on Tuesday and will be partying it up with me for 2 whole weeks!
bffls reunited!

I have tons of fun filled activities during his stay. All which I'm hoping we'll be blog worthy and be able to spice this baby back up.

One Year

A year ago today I was jetting across the Atlantic.
A year ago today I showed up on the doorsteps of 13 Hazel Close, only to be welcomed by the best people ever.
I miss Egham more than anything, but I am so grateful that I was able to be there with such amazing people! I miss you guys more than anything! But luckily, Elliot will be making his way over here in March!

Missing London Town

I meant to post these a very long time ago. All compliments of Natali's great film skills.

(Our epic trip to Abbey Road, Natali and I have experienced Paul McCartney together, so witnessing this together was epic.

While Natali was in town we tried hitting up as many art museums as possible.
(Monet at the Tate Modern)
(The sneaky picture Natali took of Sir Paul's portrait at the Portrait Gallery. Shortly after, we were scolded for taking it, oops.)
(Andy Warhol at the Tate Modern)

We took many strolls around London.

(The Globe)
(Camden Town)

(Riding a double decker)

(adventures in good old Egham)

(Edinburgh, Scotland)

We had a blast while Natali visited! I want us to all go back!

Pancake Day

I partook in Pancake Day on Tuesday, can we please have this in the states? I need more excuses to eat pancakes all day.

Here's some background info thanks to good old wiki:

In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Shrove Tuesday is more commonly known as Pancake Tuesday or Pancake Day.
Pancakes are associated with the day preceding Lent because they were a way to use up rich foodstuffs such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. The liturgical fasting emphasized eating plainer food and refraining from food that would give pleasure: In many cultures, this means no meat, dairy, or eggs.

Thank goodness I have awesome housemates that teach me all this knowledge and make me pancakes. What an awesome way to celebrate.

I'm definitely bringing this back to the states. I might even establish Pancake week at our house.

awesome

Wouldn't my life be awesome if I stayed here forever and finally got my dream English bulldog? It would be perfect. New life goal.
Also, I forgot to post this last week. But the roomies and I had a much needed reunion talk.
Awesome unibrow Annie.
And after several technical difficulties with Steph, we finally got her on the same call.
Gotta love technology. Connecting us from Australia, England, to good old Arizona.

Happy Lists: UK Edition

I realized I haven't made a happy list in a while. But thinking about it, it's actually a good thing, because I usually make happy lists when I'm not happy. And as of lately, I am one extremely happy girl. But regardless, it's time for a happy list with a UK spin.

Things that make me happy in England:
1. everyone's British accent
2. drinking excessive amounts of tea
3. quiz nights at the pubs
4. eating authentic fish & chips
5. the BBC
6. FREE museum entrances
7. free endless entertainment on the Tube
8. being able to see GREEN trees
9. massive amounts of bookstores
10. the second floor at Founder's library
11. wide-world selections of food
12. my housemates
13. being able to be a museum junkie along with everyone else here
14. meeting some amazing people
15. living my dream

dear america

dear america,
you've been fairly kind to me for the past 19 years, but no offense, I don't ever want to come home. The UK is treating me way better than you ever have. I love it here!

Sincerely,
me

time readjustment

I woke up at 4 PM today, which meant the sun had already gone down, which meant that I never saw the sun today. That's a problem. I really need to get adjusted to the time difference, it's killing me.

On a better note, I walked to and back from campus yesterday without looking at my map once! Success!

Now, I must get back to my HUGE load of assigned reading. The British take their English literature very seriously...

Cheers!
